3. Don’t buy a pet through social media

Facebook, craigslist, or some random websites nobody knows about. These are the places most people get scammed. We understand that you may not have the same diversity in a real pet store compared to what you can find online. The least you can do is to avoid making an online money transaction. Don’t add your bank information to some sketchy website online, and don’t give any personal information to a random person on Facebook or craigslist. These scammers will use this information to remove money from your bank account, sometimes little or maybe even everything! One thing’s for sure, you might be spending money, but there won’t be any dog at your door the next day. General rule: if it seems too easy, it’s probably a scam. Respectable, verified breeders and owners will most likely get to know you first for you to get a dog.
