Is there any such thing as dangerous dogs or just poorly trained dogs? According to DogsBite.org, approximately 4.5 million dog bites occur every year in the US, with the Pitbull as one of the “most dangerous dogs”. While you can train any dog to do a certain thing, not all dogs can reach the same level of training as it depends on their temperament. In other words, some dog breeds are less aggressive than others. Deciding whether a dog breed is “dangerous” requires a lot of research and facts that prove so, mainly the number of fatalities caused by the dog.  So, if you’re looking to add a new pet dog to your family, make sure it’s not one of these 5 blacklisted dog breeds. And if you’re planning to get one anyway, make sure to train them very well. Find out all about them here!

1. Pitbull

US Insurance companies have blacklisted the Pitbull dog breed given the fact that it has caused 284 deaths in recent years, making it the first most dangerous dog on the list. Facts about pitbull: A large pitbull can weigh up to 30 kilograms, whereas a female pitbull can weigh 14 to 27 kilograms.  Pitbull dogs are very athletic and unpredictable, and so they need thorough specialized training.  When trained well, Pitbulls can excel at obedience training and different sorts of sports and games, including running, walking and agility exercises, frisbee, etc. Keep in mind that Pitbulls are aggressive dogs and need a strong and determined trainer. So if you’re not ready for a Pitbull, don’t get one!

2. German Shepherd

Policemen did not name German Shepherds “police dogs” just like that! They are excellent sniffer dogs and guard dogs and do well as pets, except that they need a great trainer. Like Pitbull, the German Shepherd has also been notorious for causing fatalities among people, which made people perceive them as some of the “most dangerous dogs.” Facts about German Shepherd: A male German Shepherd can weigh between 30 and 40 kilograms. Meanwhile, a female one can weigh up to 32 kilograms.
