2. How to stop your pup from pulling on the leash

This one happens a lot with overly excited or hyperactive dogs whenever they go for a walk; they tend to pull on the leash almost every time, making your arm almost rip out of your body. Of course, your dog isn’t doing this to hurt you, normally the reasons for it have to do with your dog wanting to run, walk faster, or he’s just using his sniffing skills and having fun. This can be fixed by changing your dog’s perspective about what a leash is. The best way to train a dog to walk on a leash is to teach him that a leash means respect and control. This lesson should be learned inside your house or another controlled environment. The first technique is to walk your dog around your house. Whenever he pulls the leash, you have to immediately stop walking and wait for the leash to relax, and when your dog steps back or turns to you, feel free to proceed with the walk. You can also try the reverse direction method, which consists of changing directions whenever your dog pulls the leash. If your dog refuses to walk with you or in the direction you want to go, motivate him to do so by talking to him in an excited tone.
