#4 – Hemangiosarcoma
Cancer of blood vessels, or hemangiosarcoma, often targets the dog’s spleen, causing pale gums, altered breathing, and difficulty getting up if ruptured. In less common cases, the tumors can also show up in the dog’s skin or heart.
It’s most prevalent in large dog breeds like German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers.
Only a pathologist can make a definitive diagnosis after a surgery to remove the spleen. The next step would be chemotherapy because this cancer tends to spread to other body parts.
