#1 – Urinating Inside the House
Inappropriate urination is commonly witnessed by pet owners. The best way to deal with it is to start by finding out the cause behind this behavior. Here are the most common causes:
▪ Medical Issues: Before blaming your pet, you need to make sure they’re not suffering from a health condition that’s making them urinate unwillingly. Consult your vet to rule out kidney failure, urinary tract infection, diabetes, or any other medical problems. Once you make sure your pet is in good health, you can proceed to dig up other potential causes.
▪ Litterbox Problems: Kitties can be very picky about many things, including their litterboxes. If you have two or more cats, it’s crucial to provide each kitty with a unique litterbox that she/he can call “mine.” But if you have only one cat, you can try getting them another litter box. Plus, you need to make sure to clean the litterbox every day.
▪ Marking: Pets mark their territory by releasing some urine in a certain area. Both males and females may want to leave their identity. So make sure to perfectly clean the marked spot to prevent your cat or dog from marking the same spot again. Also, make sure to offer rewards immediately after the pet successfully marks where it’s appropriate.
▪ House Training Issues: Dogs require consistent potty training from a very young age to learn where and when to use the toilet. For successful dog house training, you need to keep a strict schedule of breaks until your puppy learns.
