#4 – Leash Pulling
This behavior can be dangerous for both you and your dog. If your pet is large enough, they may manage to pull you toward a risky situation, such as traffic.
Follow these simple rules to teach your furry friend how to walk on a leash:
▪ Use the right equipment: It only takes a visit to the nearest pet shop to find all sorts of equipment for leash walking, including head collars and chest lead harnesses that will help you control and redirect the dog’s movements. You should buy equipment that fits your pet perfectly while allowing them to see and walk comfortably.
▪ Use the right techniques: You should stop whenever your dog pulls the leash and wait for her/him to release before you continue moving. Or you can also stop and completely change direction. Whatever works for your dog!
▪ Ask for help: If you’re a new dog owner, it’s best to seek help from professional dog trainers or behaviorists. You vet can recommend someone trustworthy to offer dog training courses.
