5. Pica in dogs
Pica is the instinct to eat objects that should not be eaten, such as stones or garbage. Amazingly, dog chewing can be a way to induce vomiting and reduce pain from gastrointestinal problems. The main factors causing this problem range from nutritional and hormonal imbalances to diabetes. Either way, the situation is serious and poses serious risks to your friend. So only consider this hypothesis if all others have been discarded. If you feel that this is really the cause of dog chewing, consider taking your dog to a professional. Your friend is not an exception: to see a dog chewing must be almost as natural as eating. You should only be concerned if this habit is getting out of control. And a good part of that responsibility is probably yours. When adopting a dog, be aware that it is a being with emotional, physical, and psychological needs and that you will have to take care of them. You must have fundamental resources: money, time, and space. When one or two are missing, the other should compensate.
