4. Be sure to wash your linens

Fabrics are prone to develop odors, especially with dogs around, so to make sure you get to every source of pet-related smells, make sure to wash all of it – pillow covers, the covers of your couch and even your bedding (if you allow your dog on your bed). Plus, be aware that your own clothes can acquire your dog’s smell, so wash them often.

5. Wash your dog’s bed

If there is one item in your house that will smell bad, that’s your dog’s bed, and for obvious reasons – it’s their nest, but it’s also filled with dander, drool, random dirt they bring inside, hair and even urine. Their bed can be washed in the washing machine: sometimes, you’ll need to wash the cover; other times, you will also need to wash the core. If this doesn’t work, buy a new bed, preferably an odor-resistant dog bed.
