5. Don’t use a retractable dog leash

Retractable leashes may look fun and efficient, but they’re not the best option unless you’re trying to hurt your dog. These types of leashes tend to extend up to 5-10 feet, but they are made with a thinner cord than a normal leash, making it not more breakable but more dangerous to your dog and yourself! Having this type of leash can end up in serious accidents whenever there’s an emergency, and you need to grab the leash itself, causing friction, burns, or even cuts in your hands or your dog’s body. Instead, opt by using a normal leash whose cord won’t hurt you as bad as the retractable leash if you need to grab it. Plus, you’ll have lesser problems with malfunction or it breaking in the middle of a walk.
