Pica is the designated term for one of the worst eating disorders that can affect dogs, causing them to consume objects that aren’t food. From socks to rocks, a dog with Pica will eat anything no matter what it tastes like. Of course, this is one of the most dangerous eating disorders in dogs because it can not only lead to chocking but also gastrointestinal blockages that can be fatal if not surgically removed as soon as possible. There’s always a reason behind these eating disorders, it can be physical or psychological, but once again, no one is more qualified to diagnose your dog than a vet. At the end of the day, having a healthy dog is the main goal for any dog parent out there. This means that as an owner, you should provide your dog not only with the basics, such as a healthy diet and daily walks, but also with lots of attention and love to make them feel wanted and happy.
