5. Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Syndrome
VKH syndrome is an immune-mediated disease that causes eye problems, including red eyes, poor vision, tearing, blindness, discomfort in bright light, squinting, and more. This rare dog disease is also known as uveodermatologic. You may also notice an abnormal whitening of hair around the lips, nose, eyes, and other parts of the body. To treat this condition, the veterinarian will prescribe medications to reduce inflammations while suppressing the immune system in the affected skin and eyes. There might be other treatments involved, depending on the severity of your dog’s condition.
