Because of quarantine, our lives changed dramatically. We can no longer leave the house unless we have something urgent to do, like going to the store to get some food or the hospital.
However, even though we as humans are suffering from this change, our pets, mostly dogs, are too.
If you think about it, your dog is probably used to go outside a lot, to play, socialize with other pets, and of course, do their business.
But how is that possible during quarantine? Your dogs depend on you, and if you’re forbidden to go outside, how are you going to take care of them?
Problems will arise, from trying to keep your dog entertained with some indoor dog activities to trying to figure out potty training problems inside the house.
They likely start showing some dog stress symptoms. That’s why we’re here to help you figure out how to help a stressed dog and deal with these problems listed above.
1. How To Go Potty
Unless you live in a house with a backyard or even a porch, it can be pretty hard figuring out how to make them do their business inside the house!
After all, we’ve been teaching them that peeing and pooping inside the house is bad, and we punish them when they do it so they’ll learn they can’t. But now, we must encourage them to do so.
If you’re a dog lover, you must know that no matter how smart dogs are, they require patience and a lot of love until they learn something.
And because you’ll be teaching them to do something that’s entirely the opposite of what you taught them before, it can be pretty confusing for your dog to understand right away.
So, how to house train a dog to potty inside?
The first tip is to act like you’re preparing yourself and your dog to go out. Grab your keys, put on your shoes, grab the leash, treats, and bags, and pretend you’re about to leave the house.
If you live in an apartment, you can even exit the house and come back to it.
