4. Never use cash or gift cards as a paying method
It’s way easier to “disappear” with cash and gift cards if you’re trying to steal someone. After all, a bank transaction, like using a credit card when purchasing a pet, will give you proof that you sent that money to this person and they received it, while cash is just cash and a gift card is a way for them to spend all the money without even having to meet with you. Keeping conversation records, pictures, and actual proof that someone was selling a pet and that you bought it is the best way to keep yourself safe just in case something goes wrong.
