3. Can I Feed My Dog Raw Eggs?

Another question that might cross your mind now apart from can dog eat eggs is this one! While most dog owners feed their dogs raw eggs, others are still scared and not sure about doing so!

According to most veterinarians, it’s better to feed your dog cooked or boiled eggs, and that’s because of the following reasons:

  • Dogs are at risk of contracting the salmonella disease, and eating raw eggs can make the risk even higher. It’s simple: if your dog eats an egg contaminated by salmonella, then chances are they could get infected with Salmonellosis and develop symptoms like diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and lethargy.
  • Feeding your pampered pooch raw eggs can lead to biotin deficiency. How? Egg whites contain an enzyme known as avidin. The latter prevents the absorption of biotin in the body. And if you don’t know, biotin is a very important vitamin that supports your dog’s health inside out.
  • Raw eggs can also contain bacteria that can harm your pampered pooch.

So cooking eggs before feeding them to your dog remains the right thing to do. Also, make sure that your four-legged friend is not allergic to eggs before wishing him «Bon Appetit”.
