3. Don’t force a friendship

If your dog hasn’t been socialized around children or has gone through a traumatizing event with one, trying to force an interaction can be bad not only for your dog’s health but also for the safety of the child in question. Trying to force any type of contact can cause your puppy to become nervous, which can lead to aggressive behavior. Do not push your dog beyond their comfort zone. Instead, try to create a safe environment when introducing them to kids, and make sure that there is an area in which your dog can have their alone time if they feel like they need to soothe their anxiety.
