Be aware that it’s best to only allow your dog outside when they are old enough. Puppies should stay inside at all times during the cold season.

Read on to find out more about how to protect dogs from cold weather!

10. Know your breed

Some dog breeds are more capable of enduring the cold weather than others, and this is something you need to take into account when trying to figure out how to prepare your dog for winter. If your dog happens to have thick fur, this will allow them to tolerate lower temperatures. In contrast, dogs who present a thinner layer of coat will need to be more protected.

9. Use a Winter blanket

Even if your dog breed originated from a cold part of the globe, it’s important to provide them with a Winter blanket in order to ensure their comfort. You can buy a proper blanket for your dog, use one of the old blankets you have at home, or even use a couple old sweaters to prepare your dog’s bedding. What is really important is that they stay safe and cozy.
