1. Go To The Vet With Your Dog

No matter their age, every dog should be checked out by a veterinarian at least once or twice every year. Besides the regular dog vaccine, dogs also need to be measured, weighed, and do regular analyses to make sure they’re in a healthy state. If your dog is older, and you’re considering a new diet or a new exercise plan, it’s always a good idea to consult with the vet first. This will help you avoid future injuries and health issues that could occur due to a risky exercise or a bad reaction to certain foods.

2. Don’t Allow Your Dog To Gain Weight.

A dog’s weight should always be looked out for. But older dogs especially tend to gain a lot of weight due to their lack of activity and movement. Reducing food portions is key to make them lose a couple of pounds and achieve healthy body weight. Make sure you’re feeding him a lot of healthy dog food filled with protein, so their muscle mass stays untouched.=
