4. Don’t Exercise Your Dog Without Warming Up First

While a young dog can be sleeping and go for a run a second later, this is an extremely hard task for an older dog. If you’re planning on going for a walk or doing some exercises with your older dog, don’t expect them to keep up with you as they did in the past. Since they’re older, they need more time and a proper warm-up before starting any exercise. If you wish to go for a run, start with a walk first and see if your dog is keeping up with you or not. If he is, try to increase the pace and check if he does too. If everything looks well, you can start running, but if you notice your dog is becoming tired and stumbling every other second, it’s best to slow down again and take a break to hydrate.
